The Defenders of Terra game is set in classic fantasy world with human, elves, dwarfs and other humanoid peoples. It is a time of peace between kings and powers, but there are still dangers in the world, and with the right training and friends a person can make a living out of facing those dangers.
Your characters are in the city of CROSSROADS on the Weathering Peninsula. It is spring and a time for celebration. The festivities last for more than a week as people come to Crossroads for this celebration for commerce and parties.
This year the celebration has stretched the city guard but has remained reasonably peaceful beyond the expected drunken fights and petty crime. A few people have noticed when the bonfires are burnt out that is that there is a small star, that wasn’t there the night before in the night sky above the city, weirdly staying in place while the rest of the stars cross the sky. The locals say they’ve seen such lights before, and they don’t worry about them.
Tonight your characters have been enjoying the celebration and hanging out with a famous adventurer of days past, Gregory who retired here to enjoy his remaining years. He has told many stories and has hinted a location his old adventuring party found but never finished exploring. But right now, he’s happy spending time with his family, especially his sweet granddaughter.
1) The Crossroads – The city has the safest port on the peninsula. This city has been invaded and conquered many times over the centuries. It is not so much as a destination as jumping off point.
There is constant travel between The Crossroads and Lostshore where the trip on foot is about 5-7 days compared to taking a ship around the peninsula will take weeks.
2) Smallbreak – Considered an insignificant town where not much happens.
3) Evershore – Quite town with a shallow harbor, large boats have to send boats into town to get supplies.
4) Larchcovert – This is a minor settlement with mining and crafting. A minor pilgrimage location for several religions.
5) Gordovia – Dwarf city with mining and metal works. Known for their weapons.
6) Lostshore – A good harbor but this location is often hit with powerful storms from the south.
7) Raven Cliff – Built up on the cliffs the town is almost impossible to get to by sea. This town is considered a very shady and dangerous location. This is the sort of place where people go to be lost and not found.
8) Gweyir – Elvin trade port
There are many other small settlements scattered throughout the land.
